Some routers which are still set to default settings , are breakable. You can just use some default password list for routers. But What if the routers’ configuration are not default settings ? are they still breakable or not ? well , this question might get some various answers. One of them might be Router Brute force . There might be a lot of tools to Brute force Routers like an old tool called Router BruteForce which is not available anymore. Or you can even try a tool called Router Brute Force Authentication Program.
Here’s an excerpt about RBF (Router Brute Force) tool :
What is Router Brute Force?
Router Brute Force is an application cracks an authentication server by using a word list.
Does RBF cost anything?
RBF is absolutely free. RBF follows the standard GNU licensing.
How can this program be used?
RBF can be used to test your router’s password. Some people use it test out their WIFI router as they war drive, while others use it against their LAN router. RBF can also be used to test out your website’s password strength.
Another option that you might get is to use a tool that uses simple dictionary attack to obtain username and password of the targeted routers. You can try using Brutus.
Here’s an exceprt about Brutus :
Brutus AET2 obtains username / password pairs using simple dictionary attack. Uses the following protocols: Pop3, ftp, imap, telnet, web server passwords, routers, and switches, and custom scripting to brute force anything. Features Multi-stage authentication engine, Single User mode cracking, Multiple User mode cracking, Full brute-force capability, Up to 60 simultaneous connections, Save and Continue Session, Auto-backup session, Import and Export Custom authentication types, Word list processing/generation, SOCKS proxy support and HTML Form analysis.
You can now decide which method do you want to use to crack the routers
Cheers.
